The Materials

Every piece of my furniture begins with wood. The species of wood will become integral to the design and function of the piece. Often there is a defined limit to amount of material available and it is important to manage the project to fit within parameters. Extensive thought, planning and care are the first tools one must reach for before the first board is cut. One must also employ a degree of flexibility and the ability to improvise, when inevitably the wood will dictate a deviation from the plan.
